Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb

Another great fantasy world with fascinating characters told in the old fashioned way. Lovely detail, exciting events, a character I can love, and my favourite, political intrigue! I have heard about this author so many times over the years  (a friend suggested her to me many years ago) and I have finally had the chance to read the first in the series. So far I am loving it! It starts with the main character at the tender age of 6 years old (or thereabouts) and follows him as he grows and begins to learn about his magical abilities. Being a Prince’s bastard, he has a hard life and must face many difficulties as he learns how to handle his powers. A truly enjoyable read!

Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

I have just finished reading this wonderful book by Scott Lynch. A fascinating story about a small group of thieves led by a young man who goes by the name of Locke Lamora. Loved it! I especially enjoy novels with plenty of intrigue, detail and excitement, and this one delivers. The world Scott Lynch has created is fabulous! I fell in love with Locke and his thieving team and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Germany 2015

The second day of our visit in Germany we took the dog (Summer) for a walk and we had the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy the beautiful countryside. A walk along a lovely country lane which turned into a single track through the hillside greenery. The walk took about 45 minutes before we came full circle and returned to our host’s house. Fabulous!
